Standard resin plastic is strong enough for light-duty work, however, it is sensitive to UV light, temperature fluctuations, and water. PLA

PLA is the most common FDM 3D printing material. It has enough strength for medium-duty work, however it is brittle as well as UV and temperature sensitive. Like resin plastic, it is best suited for indoor use. PLA is considered a jack of all trades - unless you are building a part which will experience heavy loading or consistent outdoor or wet use, PLA will suit your needs. Prints start at $9.

PETG

PETG is most commonly found used in water bottles. While PETG is more difficult to work with than PLA, it is also stronger and more flexible. It is also resistant to heat up to about 176 F/80 C. PETG is also waterproof and UV-resistant. If your part is going to be used outside or in a wide temperature range, PETG is the plastic for you. Prints start at $15
